Windows Vista Quad core 4GB RAM, 500GB 10krpm mirrored drives, 512MB video with 80GB music on external drive is UNBELIEVABLY slow. Looks like my only option then is to continue with my itunes content on a hard wired drive if i cant get this solved. Mac with 1GB RAM running iTunes 8.02 with 80GB music on external drive is slow. Sometimes due to firewall restrictions, the receiving computer might not be able to access your library in the first go. Open the Sharing tab and untick the Share my library on my local network option. Is my network shared drive given a different name or soemthing every time i connect ? I really cant figure this out as I can actually browse to the files no problem. Launch the iTunes app, click on Edit, and select Preferences. When it came to reopen itunes and play them, itunes couldnt find the tracks. I tried to add a smaller number of tracks lets say 10gb and this worked fine, for a short while. The reason I ask is when it comes to adding 50 + gb of music to itunes (im not copying the files) just pointing itunes at the files. I mapped the network drive to drive letter A:/ I've exported the iTunes library as an XML file.
Are there any setting for this so it wont keep dropping the connection. Current iTunes music files are stored on a NAS drive. But it's when he calls on some heavy-hitter peers for the remaining tracks that we're really reminded of his bona fides. After trying a few tricks and scripts, I noticed something really simple: when you have an alias to a resource on a network drive and click it while the drive is not mounted, OS X starts to search simply mounts the drive. Scenic Drive is proudly for the latter group. The issue i am having where after a while it seems to drop the connection to the network drive. The biggest issue is iTunes changing the librarys path to a default (local) path every time it is started if you forgot to mount the networked music drive first. The drive appears in the shared section as an smb called fnd. The issue comes when i try to use itunes with my content. I have managed to copy all my itunes content to a freecom network drive without any issue. In the simplest terms i want to access my itunes music over my wifi network, rather than having the music on the laptop or an external usb drive. Ive been trying to get this to work for a while now and ive go to the point where i think i need some help.
